Named after the founder of Rotary International, the Paul Harris Award is one of the highest honors a Rotary Club can bestow. It is given to individuals who exemplify the Rotary motto “Service Above Self” through extraordinary contributions to their communities.
Jeffrey Matos began his journey at Club Kibrahacha 60+ as an administrator. Under the mentorship of Mr. Eric d’Arnault, a Rotary Club Aruba honorary member, he worked his way up to become Director in 2017.
During his leadership, the center evolved into a respected institution in elder care and advocacy. Jeffrey became a dynamic spokesperson and leader, tirelessly working for the well-being of Aruba’s elderly, both within the center and through partnerships with various organizations and political leaders. His efforts have led to increased political attention to the needs of seniors and the importance of keeping them actively involved in society.
Club Kibrahacha 60+ has been a pioneering authority in the field for more than 40 years. As a co-founder of the Club, the Rotary Club of Aruba deemed it fitting to honor Jeffrey’s years of commitment and leadership by awarding him this prestigious recognition.
“Jeffrey is a true example of community spirit and dedication,” said Rotary Club Aruba President Diego Acevedo. “His work has not only enriched the lives of seniors in our community but has also helped foster broader recognition of their value in society.”
The award was presented during a weekly Rotary meeting attended by club members and representatives of Club Kibrahacha.
As Jeffrey and his wife prepare to leave Aruba to begin a new chapter in the Netherlands, embarking on a new career path, Rotary Club Aruba extends its best wishes and sincere gratitude.
A true role model, Mr. Matos leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and leadership that will continue to inspire others for years to come.
