One of the goals set by the District Governor Sonya Alleyne is for clubs in District 7030 to become Peacebuilder Clubs. Our club adopted this goal and incorporated it in our Strategic Plan.

The Inaugural Peacebuilder Committee was formed constisting of fellow Rotarians Don de Veer (chair), Emilie Arends, Gianina de Freytas, Shelby Maduro and Kapil Sawilani.

Plans were drawn up and a presentation to the membership was held on October 25th, 2021 by fR Gianina and Kapil on the subject of peace building. Our support to two institutions, being Telefon pa Hubentud and Fundacion Contra Violencia Relacional, was expressed.

Later on during the club-year both institutions held their presentations to the membership on the work they carry out in our community. Donations were made with proceeds of our Container Sale Fundraising Event to, amongst others, Telefon pa Hubentud and Fundacion Contra Violencia Relacional.

Youth & Peace in Action (YPA) is a peacebuilding initiative for high schools and youth clubs that puts young people at the center of building and sustaining a culture of peace. The members of Interact Club of Aruba, Interact Club of Colegio Arubano and Interact Club of International School Aruba applied and were accepted for Youth & Peace in Action in 2021-22. Our Rotary club sponsors these Interact clubs.

An application to be recognized as a Peacebuilder Club was filed with Rotary Action Group For Peace.

During the Rotary International Convention in Houston in June 2022, President Frederick got a chance to meet with fellow Rotarian Alison Sutherland, who signed our certificate.

We are very happy to be recognized by the Rotary Action Group For Peace!
