With Incoming President Henry van den Berg presiding in the absence of President Rubiela, the meeting opened with key updates, including important dates for the upcoming General Assemblies. Members were encouraged to mark their calendars as preparations for the months ahead continue to take shape.
After enjoying a shared dinner and the opportunity to reconnect, members moved into one of the club’s most cherished traditions—the Happy Florin moment—bringing humor and personal stories to the forefront. FR Henry entertained the group with a lighthearted story from his summer holiday, adding plenty of smiles around the room.
The evening also included meaningful updates from several members. FR Ferdinand shared positive news regarding Casa Cuna, noting the appointment of a new director and expressing optimism for renewed energy and opportunities to support the home’s future. He also extended an invitation for fellow Rotarians to join him in this important effort.
FR Lufrido brought inspiration from his recent trip to Curaçao, highlighting his visit to Hofi Mango and recommending it as a unique and memorable experience. In a joyful personal moment, FR Paul shared the happy news that he recently became a grandfather for the second time.
A key highlight of the evening was an update from FR Stuart on the Peace Pole Project. The installation is scheduled for September 15 at Tres Trapi, with preparations underway to secure permits for a small commemorative gathering. This historic moment will be made even more special with the attendance of Immediate Past District Governor Debby Roopchand and Immediate Past Rotary International President Stephanie Urchik, who will travel to Aruba for the occasion.
The evening closed on a high note, filled with laughter, connection, and anticipation for the weeks ahead. In true Rotary tradition, Immediate Past President Diego led the closing song, sending members home with smiles and a strong sense of fellowship.
