Know Your Fellow: FR Lufrido Croes

Born on April 28, 1955, at Lago Hospital in Aruba, FR Lufrido Croes represents a life rooted in service, family, and community. Raised in Paradera and Seroe Pita, with formative years in Ponton and Oranjestad, he later returned to Paradera, where he built his family home in 1990.

In 1982, he married his lifelong partner Lidia, and together they raised three children: Kenneth, Lydianne, and Lucas. Family has always remained the foundation of his journey.

Professionally, FR Lufrido began his career at WEB Aruba N.V. in 1975 as a Unit Operator. Over a distinguished 35-year career, he advanced through multiple leadership roles, eventually serving as Acting Managing Director from 2000 until his early retirement in 2010. Even after retirement, he continued contributing his expertise to national projects, including work with Parke Arikok, the Medical Laboratory, Elmar, and the Aruba Hospital.

His Rotary journey began in 2003, sponsored by FR Leon Hamers. Over the years, he has served in multiple leadership roles, including Club Secretary, President of Rotary Club Aruba (2014–2015), and Assistant District Governor twice. A defining moment in his Rotary service was welcoming Rotary International President Gary Huang to Aruba in 2015. He has also been actively involved in major club initiatives such as Fiesta Rotaria, parish renovation projects, and community work with Club Kibracha.

Beyond his professional and Rotary commitments, FR Lufrido enjoys a rich personal life. He is passionate about fishing along Aruba’s coastline, gardening and farming—donating over a hundred plants annually to Fiesta Rotaria for more than a decade—music, cooking traditional Creole dishes, and traveling. He often credits his wife, family, and Rotary friends as the foundation of his fulfillment and continued energy.

Closing Fellowship

The evening concluded on a joyful note as FR Raymond Croes led the closing song, including a warm and lighthearted serenade for FR Rebecca. Laughter, music, and fellowship filled the room, capturing the true spirit of Rotary.

It was a meeting marked by reflection, anticipation, and connection as members look ahead to the upcoming Peace Pole ceremony and continued collaboration across the Rotary family in the region.
